Salt Mountainby *Thomas-Koidhis

A friend and I went out for a little drive 40km down the highway and then walked about a km into this huge grass/wetland adjacent to Salt Mountain, which is a large elevated plateau of sorts near the Salt Plains where many species are found. Among them are bison, pelicans, whooping cranes, sandhill cranes, different species of waders and other birds, wolves, foxes and various species of owl.

lucky guys... in germany this christmas was completely disappointing weatherwise. we still don't have any snow, last year at this time we've been pleased with almost 20cm of snow.
i think this shot could have been better by using an even lower standpoint like i had in this shot: [link]
would put more emphasis on the nice patterns in the foreground

I would have taken a lower angle except that we were only out for a walk and so I didn't bring a tripod - this is one of my "sneaky" handhelds LOL
