Forest Meditation by Thomas-Koidhis Forest Meditation by Thomas-Koidhis
Even long after the sun disappeared over the horizon, I couldn't bring myself to leave. I wandered closer to the falls, sat and enjoyed the spray of mist for a while. Shortly after, I made this image, which is stitched from 8 original verticals. It was my last of the night. But there is still more to upload, and I will show you at least one more.

Love to hear your thoughts.

It helps to save in sRGB! LOL I'm not completely happy with this still...I feel there's still some work to be done to make it more natural.

going through your photos always makes me miss home, I've been looking for a picture to hang on my wall at my new place for quite some time now. I think hanging one of your images would be best, now just to find the perfect one! I always regretted not wandering around little buffalo more...

You can have any one you like! I noticed you requested a print and I'll have that up for you in case you decide to go for it. Just so you know, buying it from DA will be cheaper and faster than direct from me because I have no workflow to get prints made atm =P

In all honesty, this is an incredible piece of work. Beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, captivating, breathtaking, and all the other complimentary adjectives I can't be bothered to remember at four thirty in the morning. I really, really love the not-quite-symmetry of the pools; their presence and their shapes give this image a lovely sense of balance, but there's enough difference and textural contrast (between the still water and the water beneath the falls) to create the kind of visual interest that really makes the eye linger. I could get lost in this image.

Thank you for such a great comment! I really love that you explored the image so deeply...That is why I do photography :) To relate experiences like that. Well, in part...I have other reasons! I do portraits and stuff too...hehe. Imagine what this looks like printed 8 feet across ;) Again, thank you! Love your visits!

Oh, you're so welcome.
I love images like this one, that I can really engage with and enjoy. Telling you how much I appreciate it is the least I can do - thank you for capturing this beautiful moment.

Someday, I want to see this as an eight foot print on my wall. I'll never stop staring at it. :)

Thank you so much! This was taken at Little Buffalo Falls, right on the border of Wood Buffalo National Park, off Highway 5 roughly 50 Km from Fort Smith, NWT.

yay! I'm so out of locations to shoot around here.... all of our back roads are in terrible shape and so it's hard to even go out scouting around. There are something like 28 bridges out in MB, and untold roads washed out, etc. I'm afraid it's going to be a boring summer for photos. I guess I'll have to figure out how to shoot other things than landscapes...... *sigh*

I shoot a lot other than landscapes, I just don't post it here on DA...don't limit yourself...Take photos of anything that catches your eye even if you think other people might find it uninteresting. There's always something there!

You know, I keep telling myself that - I see so many shots here on DA that are amazing - even though they are are of ordinary, every day things. I need to start stretching my mind and trying to find things like that. Maybe some conceptual stuff? I dunno.... that takes a lot of thinking! LOL!

Let your mind wonder. I do my best to remember my childlike fascination with the world...And I also tell myself to feel no pressure to take amazing photos and to just enjoy it :D

Yeah, sometimes I think that I get a little caught up in trying to get a great shot - and I forget to just relax and have fun with it. I tried something experimental today - not sure it will work out - but maybe with some creative PSing it might turn into something....
