Celestial by Thomas-Koidhis Celestial by Thomas-Koidhis
Very low clouds sweeping in from the northwest over the warm tungsten lighting of the small town of Fort Smith creates this cool and dramatic effect, with the camera positioned about 15-20 km southeast of the town facing back toward the direction of the light. Because I was far enough away from town light, I still had a very dark sky. Since the low cloud so strongly reflected the light, it appears to be positively on fire in camera. Anyway, I thought it was cool!

A DD? I've been so unactive! I am not worthy...Thank you 1Pen and Anoya.

Over time I will work through answering comments and questions, usually starting with the oldest but I can be all over the place.

Thank you everyone.

I will be honest here, before reading the description I actually thought that it was the Milkyway with the perspective if a forest fire on the ground, an those clouds were smoke. Sunset was clouds was mu other thought I had for this, with exposure to bring out the starlight, either way, worth the DD. :)

Our eyes definitely didn't develop to see a ton of color detail under a certain brightness level, so things like this really pop on camera. You have peaked my interest though..We have one hell of a fire season here in the summer, so if one happens close enough before the mightnight sun takes away the dark sky, I will try to see what I can do with that. Also, I will try not to die.
